Who is Timeless NZ?
Timeless NZ is the new name for New Zealand Luxury Travel Agents and is the luxury travel division of New Zealand Private Tours.
We are a small, Queenstown-based team led by Wayne and Kathy. Our wider travel group, KWH Journeys, also includes Remarkable Scenic Tours, New Zealand Package Holidays and Australian Custom Tours.
Because our contact systems are shared, some emails and appointment confirmations may come from an @newzealandprivatetours.nz address.
-
We combine personalised itinerary planning with firsthand local knowledge and years spent guiding guests on New Zealand roads.
Through New Zealand Private Tours and Remarkable Scenic Tours, our wider team also operates tours, local guides and premium touring vehicles in the lower South Island. This means our advice is based on practical experience as well as destination research.
-
A local planner understands realistic driving times, seasonal conditions, regional differences and how the individual parts of an itinerary work together.
We coordinate accommodation, transport, activities and domestic travel within one plan. If weather or travel disruptions affect your journey, you also have a New Zealand-based team available to help.
-
Are your itineraries fully personalised?
Yes. Every Timeless NZ itinerary can be adjusted around your dates, interests, travel pace, accommodation preferences and budget.
The journeys shown on our website are starting points intended to provide inspiration. You are not required to follow them exactly.
-
No. Approximate dates and a general idea of your interests are enough to begin.
Tell us what attracts you to New Zealand and how you like to travel. We can then recommend suitable destinations, travel times, accommodation and experiences.
-
Yes. We can review the ideas you already have and help identify any issues with routing, travel times or availability.
Depending on what has already been booked, we may be able to complete the remaining arrangements or recommend the best way for you to proceed.
-
We recommend beginning as early as possible, particularly if you want luxury lodges, private guides, overnight cruises or travel during the New Zealand summer.
Planning nine to twelve months ahead generally provides a stronger choice. Christmas, New Year and other high-demand periods may require even earlier planning.
We can sometimes arrange journeys at shorter notice, but accommodation and guide options may be more limited.
-
This depends on how much of the country you want to experience.
6–8 days: Focus on one region or create a Queenstown and Fiordland journey.
10–14 days: Explore one island properly or combine selected highlights from both islands.
15–21 days: Experience both islands at a more comfortable pace with longer stays.
We generally recommend seeing slightly less and enjoying each place properly rather than changing accommodation every night.
-
Yes. We can coordinate accommodation, private touring, transfers, domestic flights and selected experiences throughout New Zealand.
We do not arrange international flights, but we can advise on suitable arrival and departure points for your itinerary.
-
Are all your journeys fully guided?
Not necessarily. Your itinerary can include:
A private guide throughout the journey
Different local guides in selected regions
Private transfers between destinations
A combination of private touring and self-drive
Domestic flights, trains and scenic flights
Carefully selected small-group experiences
We recommend the combination that best suits your preferred travel style and budget.
-
Our wider team operates its own guides and premium touring vehicles in the lower South Island, including Mercedes touring vehicles and a Land Rover Defender.
In other parts of New Zealand, we work with trusted local guides, drivers and specialist operators.
-
Your itinerary can include luxury lodges, five-star hotels, boutique properties and premium four-star accommodation.
You do not need to stay exclusively in luxury lodges. We often recommend a combination of accommodation styles based on location, availability, budget and how each property fits into the journey.
-
Yes. We plan travel for couples, families, groups of friends and small private groups.
Please tell us the number of travellers and the ages of any children so we can recommend appropriate vehicles, rooms and experiences.
-
In many cases, yes. Please tell us about any dietary, accessibility or mobility requirements as early as possible.
We will communicate these requirements to the relevant accommodation and activity providers and explain where an experience may have physical or access limitations.
-
Yes. Australian travel is arranged through our sister brand, Australian Custom Tours.
We can coordinate Australia and New Zealand as one connected journey with one planning team and one point of contact.
-
How much does a personalised journey cost?
The price depends on the length of the journey, number of travellers, travel dates, accommodation, vehicle requirements and experiences selected.
Luxury lodges, private guides, scenic flights and helicopter experiences can significantly affect the total. An approximate budget helps us recommend options that are appropriate for you.
-
Your proposal will clearly explain what is included and excluded.
Unless specifically included, costs such as international flights, travel insurance, optional activities, personal purchases and some meals remain your responsibility. Any applicable payment charges or supplier fees will be shown before you confirm your booking.
-
Your deposit and final-payment schedule will be shown in your personalised proposal.
The amount can vary because accommodation and activity providers have different requirements. Some premium lodges and special experiences may require larger or non-refundable deposits.
-
Cancellation conditions vary according to the accommodation, transport and experiences included in your journey.
The applicable conditions will be provided before confirmation and are also explained in our Terms and Conditions. Some supplier payments may become non-refundable once reservations are confirmed.
-
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance as soon as you begin making non-refundable bookings.
Your policy should provide suitable cover for cancellation, medical treatment, travel disruption, luggage and the activities included in your itinerary. Insurance remains the traveller’s responsibility.
-
When is the best time to visit New Zealand?
New Zealand can be enjoyed throughout the year, but the best season depends on what you want to experience.
Summer: December–February
Warm weather, long daylight hours and the busiest travel period.Autumn: March–May
Mild conditions, autumn colours and generally fewer visitors.Winter: June–August
Skiing, snow-covered alpine scenery and cooler temperatures.Spring: September–November
Changing landscapes, spring growth and variable weather.Conditions can differ considerably between the North and South Islands, and alpine weather can change quickly in any season.
-
Entry requirements depend on your nationality and passport. You may need a visitor visa or a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority before travelling.
Use the official Immigration New Zealand visa checker to confirm what applies to you:
https://www.immigration.govt.nz/visit/what-you-need-to-visit-new-zealand/visa-tool-test/
Timeless NZ cannot arrange visas or accept responsibility for immigration requirements.
-
Yes. Travellers entering New Zealand must complete the free New Zealand Traveller Declaration.
Requirements and submission times should be checked on the official website before travelling:
There are currently no COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements for entering New Zealand, but entry rules can change. Always check the official government information before departure.
-
Visitors may be able to drive using a valid overseas licence, provided they meet New Zealand’s licensing requirements.
If your licence is not in English, you may also need an approved translation or International Driving Permit. Overseas-licence time limits and rental-company age requirements can change, so check the official guidance before travelling:
https://www.nzta.govt.nz/travelling-on-our-roads/visitors-and-new-residents/driving-on-nz-roads
Remember that New Zealand drives on the left and many scenic roads are narrower and slower than overseas visitors expect.
-
Tipping is not compulsory in New Zealand.
However, if you receive exceptional service and would like to thank your guide, driver or hospitality team, a tip is always appreciated.
-
What happens if weather affects our plans?
Weather can affect scenic flights, helicopter experiences, glacier activities, Milford Sound and travel through alpine regions.
Our New Zealand-based team remains available to help if conditions disrupt your itinerary. Where practical, we will discuss alternative arrangements or assist with reorganising affected services.
Supplier cancellation conditions and travel-insurance coverage will still apply.
-
Your final journey will be provided through a mobile travel app.
It keeps your daily plans, accommodation, transfers, activities and important contact details together in one place. We recommend downloading the itinerary before travelling so key information remains available when mobile coverage is limited.
-
Yes. You will receive the appropriate contact information before your journey begins.
Our local team remains available if you need assistance with arrangements while travelling. Emergency services and situations outside your itinerary should always be directed to the appropriate local authority first.
Still Have a Question?
Tell us what you would like to know, along with your approximate travel dates and the number of people travelling.
Our Queenstown-based team will be happy to help.
